Petrol Production to Commence at Dangote Refinery Next Month

Must read

Dangote Petroleum Refinery is set to commence petrol production by next month, marking a milestone in the nation’s quest for energy independence. Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the CEO of Dangote Group, announced this during a press briefing held at the refinery premises in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos state.

The refinery, touted as Africa’s largest single-train facility, had faced challenges in crude supply from International Oil Companies (IOCs), which have now been resolved through the intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and the federal government. This breakthrough clears the path for the refinery to begin producing petrol, addressing a critical aspect of Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.

During the media briefing, Alhaji Aliko Dangote expressed his optimism regarding compliance with the newly enacted Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), emphasizing the importance of regulatory stability for the refinery’s operations and the broader industry.

Furthermore, Dangote highlighted that the refinery’s fertiliser unit is also poised to resume exports within two weeks to meet local demands for the upcoming farming season. This dual capability of producing both petrol and fertiliser underscores the refinery’s strategic importance in bolstering Nigeria’s agricultural and industrial sectors.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals complex, spanning across Ibeju Lekki local government area, represents a cornerstone in Nigeria’s drive towards self-sufficiency in petroleum products and allied industries. As the countdown begins towards the commencement of petrol production, stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the refinery’s role in stabilizing fuel supply and driving economic growth in the region.

With preparations in full swing, the impending rollout of petrol production from Dangote Refinery stands as a testament to the vision of Alhaji Aliko Dangote and a significant step forward in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
