The Kwara State Police Command has successfully rescued one Haruna Ahamadu from a kidnappers’ den in Omu-Aran Forest, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, in what authorities have described as another significant victory in the ongoing war against criminality.
The operation, which was the result of credible intelligence and meticulous coordination between police operatives and local vigilante groups, led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male).
The police confirmed that the victim was freed unharmed, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend other members of the kidnapping gang who are currently at large.
This development was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo. The statement noted that the operation reflects the Command’s renewed commitment to intelligence-driven policing and proactive collaboration with community-based security structures.
“The Kwara State Police Command has recorded yet another operational success in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements in the state,” the statement read.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi further emphasized that the Command remains unwavering in its determination to protect lives and property, adding that strategic patrols and surveillance have been intensified across identified flashpoints in both rural and urban areas.
Commending the operatives involved in the rescue, CP Ojo lauded their courage and professionalism, while reiterating that the Command would not relent in dismantling criminal networks operating within and around the state.
He also extended appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose reform-oriented leadership and operational directives, he said, have greatly enhanced police efficiency and intelligence-sharing nationwide.
The statement urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in the prevention and detection of crimes. It also reaffirmed the Command’s stance that “there will be no hiding place for kidnappers and bandits in any part of Kwara State.”
