In a resounding affirmation of its academic excellence and institutional integrity, The Polytechnic Iresi, Osun State has officially received full accreditation for all its academic programmes from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), a landmark achievement that positions the institution among the leading polytechnics in Nigeria’s evolving technical education landscape.

The NBTE conveyed this accreditation in a formal letter dated 8th April 2025, following a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation process. The exercise assessed the Polytechnic’s academic programmes, physical infrastructure, staffing quality, instructional materials, governance structures, and compliance with national standards in technical and vocational education.
The fully accredited programmes include National Diploma (ND) offerings in Accountancy, Business Administration, and Mass Communication, as well as Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in Accountancy, Software and Web Development, with resource inspection completed for Networking and Cloud Computing, signaling imminent commencement. These additions significantly bolster the Polytechnic’s existing accredited ND courses in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

This sweeping accreditation approval is widely regarded as a transformative moment for the Polytechnic Iresi, enabling it to broaden its academic base, attract a more diverse student body, and deepen its role in Nigeria’s human capital development.
Speaking on the achievement, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Adewoyin Azeez Olakunle commended all stakeholders whose unwavering dedication contributed to this institutional success. He acknowledged the moral and advisory role of the Visitor to the Polytechnic, Ọbá Sikiru Adeseun Ibiloye Odumiri II, the Oluresi of Iresi land, whose royal influence has been pivotal in the institution’s steady rise.
Special commendation was also extended to Chief (Dr.) Oluwole Oludaisi Aina, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Deputy Corps Marshal (Rtd.) Dr. Kayode Olagunju, Chairman of the Governing Council, for their strategic oversight and commitment to sustainable academic development.

“I must express deep appreciation to our Board, Council, management, staff, and students,” said Dr. Adewoyin. “This milestone is the outcome of strategic foresight, collective resilience, and an enduring belief in our institutional mission.”
Dr. Adewoyin emphasized that the newly accredited programmes are not merely academic additions but deliberate steps toward aligning with global industry demands in financial technology, digital media, and cloud computing. The inclusion of Software and Web Development and Networking and Cloud Computing at the HND level underlines the institution’s commitment to providing relevant, future-oriented education.
“This accreditation is more than a regulatory endorsement—it is a powerful validation of our relevance in today’s knowledge-driven economy,” the Rector noted. “We are training graduates who are not only theoretically sound but also practically equipped to drive innovation across sectors.”
The announcement has sparked widespread celebration among students, faculty, alumni, and the broader Iresi community. Many see the development as a catalyst for local economic growth, educational investment, and national visibility.

Beyond academic prestige, full NBTE accreditation grants the Polytechnic greater eligibility for public funding, industry partnerships, research collaboration, and international affiliations. It also assures prospective students and employers of the institution’s credibility and commitment to global standards.
Dr. Adewoyin expressed gratitude to the NBTE for its rigorous quality assurance mechanisms, noting that the Board’s role in setting and enforcing benchmarks has been instrumental in elevating the standards of technical education across Nigeria.
As the Polytechnic Iresi consolidates this achievement, the administration is setting its sights on programme expansion, institutional research capacity, and international accreditation. Plans are already underway to introduce additional disciplines in renewable energy technologies, digital entrepreneurship, and advanced manufacturing systems, reflecting its forward-looking academic strategy.
“With these accreditations, we reaffirm our vision to be a leading provider of innovation-driven, entrepreneurial, and technically skilled graduates in Nigeria and beyond,” Dr. Adewoyin concluded.
This is wonderful…
