Hon. Shittu Ibraheem Aremu has fulfilled a significant promise by sponsoring 120 indigent and deserving students with full Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) scholarships. The initiative also includes comprehensive computer-based training (CBT), equipping beneficiaries with the digital literacy skills necessary to succeed in the increasingly technology-driven examination environment.
The groundbreaking program, held on Saturday at the premises of Ansa-ru-deen High School in Saki, drew wide acclaim from the community and was attended by a host of dignitaries, community leaders, educators, and political stakeholders.
The event served not only as a formal launch of the scholarship initiative but also as a rallying point for educational advocacy and mentorship. Delivering the keynote address, Oladejo Kazeem Olamilekan, an esteemed educator and president of Saki Youth Organisation, offered both motivation and pragmatic counsel to the students.
“Education remains one of the most transformative tools for social and economic mobility, you have been given a rare opportunity. Do not waste it. Study with intention, choose your career paths wisely, and aim to become professionals who not only succeed individually but contribute to the development of your communities.” Oladejo stated
He urged the students to consider not just passion but market relevance, societal needs, and personal aptitude when selecting their courses of study.
Emphasizing the significance of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, entrepreneurship, and vocational innovation, Olamilekan warned against herd mentality in course selection, calling instead for introspection and research.
In his address, Hon. Shittu Ibraheem Aremu represented by his Chief of Staff, Olanrewaju Gafar Folawiyo, expressed his long-standing vision to remove financial and systemic barriers that often prevent bright students from accessing higher education.
“This is not a one-time event, it is part of a broader agenda to build a future where no child is denied the right to dream, grow, and lead because of circumstance.” he noted
He also affirmed that the CBT training would bridge the digital divide and enhance the beneficiaries’ familiarity with the JAMB testing format, thereby increasing their chances of academic success.
