In a decisive move aimed at easing mobility and improving living conditions in Saki, the Oyo State Commissioner for Trade, Investment and Cooperative, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, has facilitated the grading of the Markaz–Misra access route, a corridor long considered a critical but neglected link within the town.
Speaking during the inspection of the ongoing work, Hon. Adebisi stated that the intervention was part of his commitment to “give back to the community” and ensure residents enjoy the true dividends of democracy.
He described infrastructural accessibility as a cornerstone of economic and social development, expressing optimism that the newly graded pathway would significantly enhance the daily movement of residents, traders, motorists, and schoolchildren who rely heavily on the route.
The Commissioner further extended appreciation to stakeholders, leaders, and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saki West Local Government, acknowledging their unwavering cooperation and support in advancing the party’s agenda and reinforcing the developmental strides of Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde. He noted that such unity of purpose remains essential to sustaining the progressive governance model currently being implemented across Oyo State.
Residents of the Markaz and Misra neighborhoods trooped out in large numbers to witness the long-awaited relief project. Many expressed gratitude, offering prayers for the upliftment of the Commissioner and describing the gesture as timely, impactful, and deeply community-centered.
In a separate but equally significant sanitation initiative, Hon. Adebisi also ordered the evacuation of long-accumulated refuse around the Saki Parapo Tall Hown axis. The area, particularly the Igbooro community and the Sheik Gbodo neighborhood, had endured years of environmental hazards due to the unmanaged waste.
The Commissioner explained that the cleanup exercise was motivated by the urgent need to protect residents from potential health risks, restore environmental dignity, and enhance the aesthetics of the neighborhood. He emphasized that preventive sanitation measures are as crucial as infrastructure development in safeguarding the wellbeing of the people.
Residents of the affected area praised the intervention, noting that the clearing of the waste had brought a sense of relief, cleanliness, and renewed hope for sustained government attention.
