In a significant move to promote women’s empowerment and agro-processing development in Oyo State, Hon. Tajudeen Kareem has distributed universal ovens and other agro-processing equipment to fifty women across Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Local Government Areas.
The initiative, facilitated in partnership with the National Center for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM), is aimed at enhancing food processing, increasing productivity, and improving the economic independence of women engaged in agricultural businesses. By providing modern equipment, the program seeks to reduce post-harvest losses, improve food preservation, and boost rural economies.
Speaking at the empowerment event, Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun who was represented by Alh. Thabit Olofa reaffirmed his commitment to supporting women and rural entrepreneurs, noting that the agricultural sector plays a vital role in the economic growth of Oyo State.
“Our women are at the heart of agricultural production and food processing. By equipping them with the right tools, we are not only empowering individuals but also strengthening families, reducing poverty, and fostering economic sustainability in our communities. This is just one of many initiatives to ensure that our people, especially women, have access to the resources they need to thrive,”he said.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from the beneficiaries, who expressed deep appreciation for the initiative. Many highlighted how the universal ovens will help them expand their businesses, improve hygiene standards in food processing, and increase their income potential.
Mrs. Azeez Modinat Iyabode, one of the beneficiaries from Atisbo said, “I have been processing food items for years, but I struggled with preservation and maintaining quality. With this new equipment, I can now produce on a larger scale, reduce spoilage, and increase my profits. I sincerely appreciate Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun for this life-changing support.”Â
Other beneficiaries from Saki East and Atisbo shared similar sentiments, acknowledging that this intervention will not only uplift their businesses but also create job opportunities for others in the value chain.
Hon. Kareem assured the people of his continued commitment to grassroots development and women’s economic empowerment. He pledged to initiate more capacity-building programs, skill acquisition training, and access to financial support for small-scale entrepreneurs in the region.
