Reps Urge Reversal of Prices for PMS, Cooking Gas

Must read

The House of Representatives has called for the immediate reversal of the soaring prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and cooking gas. This plea came during an urgent motion of public importance, backed by 111 members of the green chamber.

The Deputy Minority Leader, Aliyu Madaki, led the debate, emphasizing the critical need for intervention as many citizens grapple with escalating living costs.

“If urgent measures are not taken, the livelihoods of Nigerians will continue to be threatened,” Madaki warned, highlighting the growing burden that high fuel and cooking gas prices have placed on households across the country.

The motion reflects a broader concern regarding the economic stability of the nation, with representatives citing the cumulative impact of price hikes on job security and overall quality of life.

The Deputy Minority Leader urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) to expedite the repairs of the nation’s refineries, positing that improving domestic oil production could alleviate some of the pressures in the sector.

Madaki’s statements resonate with many Nigerians who have felt the pinch of rising fuel and cooking gas costs, which have surged in recent months.
