The suspension of Hon. Sikiru Mukaila Adeleke of Ward 3 in the Saki West local government
legislative chamber on March 28, 2023, has been described as illegal and a political witch hunt masterminded by the leader of the house, Hon. Quadri, who vetoed the plan without carefully considering the opinion of other colleagues and following the stipulated steps of the law, say councilors.
It should be noted that the suspension was announced a few days ago, alleging anti-party activities and gross misconduct by the leader of the house, which was supported by the Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Sarafadeen Omirinde.
According to a report available to Korrectnews, the majority of the councilors were not in support of this and did not witness the sitting that put Hon. Adeleke into suspension, which they described as an act of impunity and a gross misconduct of power by the leader of the house and the chairman of the council.
The seven members of the house which includes Hon. Salaudeen Soliu Abiodun (Councilor Ward 1), (Councillor Ward 1), HON. Olaniyan Muhideen Ayinde (Councillor Ward 5), HON. (MRS) Olawoore Dorcas (Councillor Ward 6), HON. Raji Ismail Aiki (Councillor Ward 7), HON. Fatai Hammed Adebayo ( Councillor Ward 8), HON. Salami Mutawakil (Councillor Ward 10), AND HON, Hammed Saheed Titilope (Councillor Ward 11) agreed unanimously that the sitting of the House on 28/3/2023 was illegal and not properly convened in that there was no formal notice for the sitting to the member of the house and that At the said 5(Five) – minute meeting of 28/3/2023, the House did not discuss the issue of Suspension of HON. Sikiru Mukaila Adeleke at all.
Also, the party agreed that the parliamentarian in question was never sponsored into the House by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was the party that sponsored him into the House, and he cannot be accused of being anti-party by PDP members except his own party.
The councilor urged the leader of the house to review his decision and do the right thing without delay.
