The recent plenary sitting held yesterday, the Saki West Local Government legislative council received a significant proposal aimed at improving traffic safety and reducing congestion along the Temple – ADS – Baba Niger Road. The proposal, presented by Hon. (Prince) Fasasi Quadri Amao, Councilor of Ward 9, seeks to convert this thoroughfare into a one-way street.
Hon. Amao’s motion outlines specific changes to traffic flow along the Temple – ADS – Baba Niger Road. According to the proposal:
– Vehicles and motorcycles originating from the Temple – ADS – Baba Niger junction will be directed towards Sango only.
– Traffic from the African Baptist School side will be rerouted to use Kolawole Junction to access the Temple area, prohibiting passage through the Baba Niger junction towards ADS -Temple.
The councilor emphasized that these changes are crucial to enhancing traffic safety and alleviating congestion in the area, which has been a growing concern among residents and commuters alike.
“The conversion to a one-way system aims to streamline traffic movements and reduce the risk of accidents at this junction,” stated Hon. Amao during his presentation.
Additionally, the motion includes penalties for non-compliance to ensure adherence to the new traffic regulations:
– Motorcycles failing to comply will face a fine of ₦5,000.
– Vehicles violating the one-way rule will be subject to a ₦10,000 fine including trucks.
