Hon. Shittu Ibraheem Aremu, the distinguished Member representing Saki West State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, has extended heartfelt appreciation to all workers across local, state, and national levels in commemoration of this year’s International Workers’ Day, celebrated on the 1st of May.
In his address, Hon. Shittu acknowledged the indispensable contributions of the working population to the growth and sustenance of the constituency, Oyo State, and Nigeria at large. He recognized their unwavering dedication, resilience, and commitment despite mounting socio-economic challenges.
“I stand today to celebrate and commend every working hand, every tireless soul, and every resilient spirit contributing to the advancement of our constituency, our dear state, and our nation,” Hon. Shittu stated. “May this First Day of May 2025 bring renewed blessings, strength, and prosperity to all workers across every sector.”
The legislator specially appreciated workers in key sectors and institutions, noting their strategic importance in societal development. He gave special mention to:
All Local, State & National Workers, whose daily sacrifices form the bedrock of government functionality and national progress. ALGON and NULGE, for their pivotal roles in grassroots governance and local administration. Oyo State House of Assembly Commission Workers, for ensuring effective legislative support and continuity.
Oyo State Chapters of NUT, NLC, TUC, NUJ (Judiciary and Journalists), for their persistent advocacy, professional service delivery, and protection of workers’ rights and democratic values. Security Agencies, including Amotekun Corps (Oyo State Command) and the Nigeria Police Force, Saki Division, for their courageous efforts in maintaining peace and security within the constituency and beyond.
The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, for its role in education, innovation, and youth development. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, for upholding the pillars of democracy and electoral integrity. Private School Educators and Workers in Saki as well as all other private and informal sector workers, who continue to serve the community with diligence and passion.
Hon. Shittu emphasized the crucial need for improved welfare, fair wages, and better working conditions for all laborers, stating that his legislative agenda remains centered on social equity, employment generation, and infrastructure that supports productivity.
“As we mark this symbolic day, let us renew our collective resolve to build a just society where the dignity of labor is recognized and rewarded. I am fully committed to policies and initiatives that uplift the working class and promote inclusive growth across all sectors,” he added.
