Tajudeen Were Leads Constituency Training Program Focused on Youth and Women Empowerment

Hon. Abd Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun Were, Chairman of the House Committee on Culture and Tourism, has spearheaded a transformative initiative aimed at empowering young people and women in Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Federal Constituency.

The event, held at the Abeje MultiPurpose Hall and Sabi @Funfunlogun Warehouse in Saki respectively, saw the participation of over 100 young residents and 140 women from the three constituencies.

It featured a series of workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and lectures on modern fish farming techniques, including pond management, fish breeding, and disease control.

Hon. Tajudeen Were represented by Alhaji Thabit Olofa, addressing attendees, highlighted the significance of the training program.

“Our goal is to equip our youth with practical skills that can translate into sustainable livelihoods,” Were said.

“Fish farming not only offers a viable income source but also contributes to food security and community development.”

The training sessions were led by experts in aquaculture, who provided in-depth knowledge on various aspects of fish farming. Participants were taught how to set up and maintain fish ponds, manage water quality, and implement best practices for maximizing yield.

The program also included a component on the business side of fish farming, such as marketing strategies and financial management.

In addition to the training, Hon Tajudeen Were announced the provision of starter kits to the participants, which include essential materials and equipment and cash gift needed to begin their fish farming ventures.

This support aims to remove barriers to entry and ensure that the skills acquired during the training can be effectively applied.

Honourable Abd Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun Were also distributed grinding machines to women in his constituency. The initiative which is designed to support families during the current economic difficulties facing the country.

Each recipient received a grinding machine, intended to boost their small-scale businesses and improve their livelihoods. This gesture is part of a broader strategy to help constituents achieve financial stability amid challenging economic conditions.
