In a significant continuation of his statewide familiarization tour, gubernatorial aspirant Dr. Gbenga Adegbola paid a courtesy visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, as part of his ongoing consultations and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 Oyo State gubernatorial election.

During the visit, Dr. Adegbola highlighted the profound role that the people of Ogbomoso have played in shaping his personal and professional journey. He expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support and contributions of Ogbomoso indigenes, emphasizing that their guidance and encouragement have been instrumental in his rise to prominence.

“The sacrifices and support of Ogbomoso sons and daughters have helped me reach where I am today. It is only fitting that I return here to seek blessings and guidance as I embark on this new chapter of service to our state,” he stated.

HRM Oba Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III, while receiving Dr. Adegbola, commended his humility and dedication to inclusive governance, praying for wisdom and protection as he navigates the complexities of the political landscape.

Dr. Adegbola’s tour also included a high-level engagement with HRM Oba Thomson Adeyeye Akanmu Oyetunji Atunlute Olumole II, Alajaawa of Ajawa. The revered monarch lauded Dr. Adegbola’s audacity and vision, particularly his determination to address the longstanding issue of regional marginalization within Oyo State.

“Your courage to confront the systemic neglect of some regions in our state is both admirable and timely. Our people deserve leadership that recognizes every community’s potential and contribution,” Oba Atunlute remarked.

In addition, Dr. Adegbola visited other traditional rulers, including HRM Oba Samuel Bamigboye, Olopete of Opete; HRM Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran, Onpetu of Ijeru Land; and HRM Oba Samuel Oladosu Oyekunle Adedoyin, Olu of Obada Odo-Oba.

Each royal father, in their separate receptions, emphasized the importance of visionary leadership that prioritizes unity, development, and prosperity for all constituents across Oyo State.

Beyond the royal palaces, Dr. Adegbola also held strategic consultations with key stakeholders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in various local government areas including Orire, Ogbomoso South, Ogbomoso North, Ogo Oluwa, and Surulere. These meetings served as crucial platforms to share his political philosophy, articulate his developmental agenda, and rally support at the grassroots level.

Speaking during one of the gatherings, Dr. Adegbola underscored the importance of intergenerational responsibility in governance.

“We must not live wastefully, nor should we leave a legacy that forces the next generation to endure the same struggles we face today. It is imperative that we work collectively and harmoniously to rewrite the narrative of politics and governance in Oyo State,” he said.

Capping off his engagements, Dr. Adegbola met with prominent Oyo political figure and former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Hamzat Ayo Adeseun. The elder statesman praised Dr. Adegbola’s bold grassroots approach and expressed confidence in his vision for Oyo State.

“Your passion for the people and commitment to equitable governance are commendable. The road ahead is challenging, but your resolve offers a beacon of hope for sustainable leadership,” Senator Adeseun said.
