University of Ilorin Students Injured in Lone Auto Accident

Several students of the University of Ilorin sustained varying degrees of injury following a lone auto accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon along the university road.

The incident involved a small commercial bus, locally known as “Korope,” which reportedly experienced a tyre burst while in motion. According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened near the university gate, prompting swift intervention from university security officials to manage the situation.

Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing scene, noting that one of the victims lost her arm in the crash, while another female student appeared unconscious on the road.

Mr. Kunle Akogun, the Director of Corporate Affairs at the University of Ilorin, confirmed the accident. He clarified that despite the severity of injuries, there were no fatalities. Akogun assured that all those involved in the accident were promptly taken to the university clinic for medical attention.

Videos circulating in the Ilorin metropolis depicted the aftermath of the accident, showing injured students lying on the road in pain. Among them was a female student with visible head injuries, and a man in a suit struggling to maintain his balance.

Emergency services and university authorities continue to coordinate efforts to ensure all injured students receive necessary medical care and support. The university administration has urged students and staff to remain calm as they investigate the cause of the accident and take necessary preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
