The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has confirmed that it purchased Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the Dangote Refinery at a rate of N898 per litre.
This announcement followed the dispatch of approximately 300 trucks to the refinery on Saturday, with loading operations commencing the following day.
Olufemi Soneye, Chief Spokesperson for NNPCL, addressed media inquiries about the pricing, refuting earlier claims that the fuel was bought at N760 per litre.
“We successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today. The claim that we purchased it at N760 per litre is incorrect. For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was N898 per litre,” Soneye stated.
As of the latest update, over 70 trucks have been loaded with the fuel. This transaction marks a significant milestone as it represents the first major commercial operation for the newly commissioned Dangote Refinery, which boasts a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
