The All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly debunked a widely circulated report alleging the pricing structure for its expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the claims as entirely fabricated and without any official basis.
The controversy emerged following the viral spread of a graphic on Friday, which purportedly outlined steep fees for prospective aspirants under the ruling party’s platform. According to the unverified document, individuals seeking the presidency would be required to pay as much as ₦200 million for nomination forms, while those contesting for state assembly positions would face a ₦20 million fee.
However, in a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, the APC, through its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, categorically dismissed the report as false and misleading.
Morka clarified that the party had neither commenced any process regarding the sale of forms nor taken any decision on the pricing structure for aspirants in the forthcoming electoral cycle.
“At this time, no official announcement has been made concerning the sale or pricing of nomination or expression of interest forms for the 2027 general elections,” the statement read. “The report in circulation is nothing more than a figment of the writer’s mischievous imagination.”
The APC’s rebuttal comes amid heightened political speculation and early maneuvering ahead of the next general elections, which, although still over a year away, have already begun to dominate discourse within party circles and the broader political landscape.
Political analysts note that misinformation of this nature, particularly when amplified through digital platforms, has the potential to distort public perception and trigger unnecessary tension among party stakeholders.
