A wave of solemn reflection has enveloped the ancient town of Saki following the death of respected community leader, Chief Raheem Aiki Boorepo, as prominent political figure Rt. Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Rt. Hon. Abisodun, who represents the Saki East/Saki West/Atisbo Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly , commiserated with renowned businessman Alhaji Raheem Sakariyyau Boorepo Elele over the passing of his father, describing the loss as “a profound moment of grief not only for the Boorepo family but for the entire Saki community.”
In a statement released to the press, the federal lawmaker expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the late Baale Iya, whom he described as a custodian of tradition, a symbol of wisdom, and a stabilizing force within the local governance structure.
“Chief Raheem Aiki Boorepo lived a life defined by honour, humility, and unwavering commitment to community development. His contributions to the socio-cultural advancement of Saki will remain indelible,” Abisodun stated.
He further noted that the late traditional figure played a critical role in fostering unity and preserving the customs and heritage of the people, adding that his death creates a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
Addressing Alhaji Raheem Sakariyyau Boorepo directly, Abisodun acknowledged the emotional weight of losing a patriarch, urging him to take solace in the impactful legacy left behind by his father.
“While no words can fully ease the pain of this loss, I urge you to find comfort in the exemplary life your father lived and the enduring values he instilled in his children and the wider community,” he said.
The lawmaker also extended his sympathies to the entire Boorepo dynasty, the traditional council, and residents of Saki, emphasizing that the late Baale’s influence transcended familial boundaries.
The passing of Chief Raheem Aiki Boorepo has triggered an outpouring of tributes from various quarters, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and business stakeholders across Oyo State.
Widely regarded as a grassroots leader, the late Baale was instrumental in conflict resolution, youth mentorship, and the promotion of communal harmony. His leadership style, rooted in accessibility and fairness, earned him admiration across generations.
Residents describe him as a “father to all,” whose palace served as a meeting point for dialogue, reconciliation, and cultural preservation.
Rt. Hon. Abisodun concluded his message with prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul and strength for the family during this difficult period.
“As we mourn this great loss, may Almighty Allah grant the deceased Aljanah Firdaus and grant the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
