A pro-democracy group, Kwara Rebuilders, has taken aim at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Engr. Kale Kawu, accusing him of plagiarizing the policy document of Lagos State APC governorship candidate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, ahead of his scheduled manifesto launch.
In a statement issued by its Media Officer for Kwara Central Senatorial District, AbdulQuadri AbdulKabeer, the group characterized Kawu’s upcoming policy document, titled ‘My Covenant with Kwara’, as a rushed and unoriginal imitation of Hamzat’s newly unveiled ‘My Lagos Promise’.
Kwara Rebuilders alleged that the PDP candidate lacks original governance ideas and questioned his preparedness for the state’s top administrative seat, claiming the move was an afterthought designed to mislead the electorate.
“We were quite amused to see a man who once publicly admitted that he had no other mission and vision for Kwara other than to sustain the Saraki dynasty now making a surprising move of launching a manifesto,” the statement read. “We consider this a mere deceitful move to cajole Kwarans. Engr. Kale Kawu should stop embarrassing himself and be a man of his own, who is courageous enough to build original, genuine ideas.”
The group further argued that Kwara’s current governance needs cannot be met by what it described as a hurriedly assembled document, stating that the electorate favors progress and continuity rather than returning to past political arrangements associated with salary backlogs, neglected healthcare, and underfunded schools.
Urging the PDP candidate to abandon what it termed a “copycat approach,” the group called on Kawu to apologize to the people of the state, alleging that his bid serves primarily as a vehicle to fund external political ambitions rather than genuine public service.
