Youth groups from Kwara Central Senatorial District on Friday converged at the Ilorin Eid Praying Ground to offer special prayers for the governorship ambition of Senator Sadiq Umar, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The prayer session, which attracted several young leaders and supporters from across the district, was led by the Chief Imam Imale of Ilorin Emirate, Dr. Abdullah Abdulhamid, who emphasized the importance of seeking divine guidance in leadership aspirations and public service.

Speaking during the gathering, the cleric noted that prayer remains a vital pillar in the pursuit of political office, stressing that leadership should be anchored on wisdom, justice and service to humanity.
He also clarified that his participation was not based on party affiliation, but on his commitment to praying for all leaders and aspirants irrespective of political platforms.
“I am for everyone, regardless of political party, but I hold Senator Sadiq Umar in high esteem and pray that God grants him wisdom and direction,” he stated.
The event was coordinated by youth leaders under the leadership of Muhammed Umar Dasuki, who mobilized various support groups for the prayer programme.
Other notable youth figures present at the gathering included Adamu Ibrahim Magaji Ngeri, alongside several community stakeholders and supporters from across Kwara Central.

Participants at the prayer meeting described Senator Sadiq Umar as a committed public servant whose leadership qualities and grassroots connection have continued to endear him to many residents.
The gathering is seen by political observers as an early signal of growing support for the senator’s potential governorship bid as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections in Kwara State.
The event ended with prayers for peace, unity and progress in Kwara State, as well as divine guidance for all leaders seeking to serve the people.
