The Acting Head, Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Dr Semiu Bello, has lauded the appointment of a graduating student in the Department, Mr Abdullateef Kolawole Ibraheem, as Special Assistant on Communications to the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Friday, September 30, 2022, Bello said the Faculty and the Department were very proud of the appointee, given his track record as an outstanding youth ambassador, prolific writer, and dynamic student mobiliser and advocate.
While commending Governor AbdulRazaq, who doubles as Visitor to the University, for finding one of the best products of the Department worthy of serving in his administration, he expressed confidence in the appointee’s media and communications know-hows, capable of adding value to the present administration in the state.
Describing the new appointee as a round peg in a round hole, the Media Scholar urged him to remain a good ambassador of the Department, the Faculty of ICT, and the Kwara State University as a whole, in the pursuit of the onerous assignment.
He congratulated the KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, and the acting Dean of the Faculty of ICT, Associate Professor Isiaka Aliagan, on the appointment, which he noted, was the second from the Faculty since the Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration came on board.
He recalled that the Faculty’s Department of Library and Information Science produced the youngest Commissioner in the history of the state, Mrs Joana Nnazua Kollo.
The HoD said the latest appointment further lends credence to Governor AbdulRazaq’s strong conviction that youths are not only leaders of tomorrow, but that their leadership roles start from today.
He, therefore, urged the Governor’s new aide to bring his excellent media and communications knowledge to bear on the new task, just as he assured him of the Department’s support towards his successful appointment.
