Moshood Alaka Emerges North Central Campaign Patron for Tinubu-Shettima

Must read

Hon. Moshood Alaka, Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Party Affairs, has emerged as the North Central Campaign Patron for the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 political campaign.

The appointment places Alaka among political stakeholders expected to contribute to the mobilisation and coordination of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima across the North Central region ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development comes as the All Progressives Congress (APC) intensifies grassroots mobilisation across the region. The North Central APC on Friday announced plans for a major grassroots mobilisation programme aimed at supporting the re-election bid of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket in 2027. The region comprises Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger and Plateau states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

Alaka’s new role adds to his political responsibilities in Kwara State, where Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq appointed him Adviser on Party Affairs in March 2024. The state government said at the time that Alaka was among three advisers appointed to support the administration in specific areas of responsibility.

In recent months, Alaka has also been involved in efforts to strengthen APC structures and grassroots engagement in Kwara. At a stakeholders’ meeting of the Coalition of Kwara APC Young Stakeholders and Supporters (C-KAYS) in August, he urged party members to take government policies and programmes to their communities and deepen engagement with residents.

He also called on inactive or dissatisfied party members to return to the party and contribute to strengthening its structures ahead of future elections.

The latest appointment comes at a time when APC leaders in the North Central are seeking greater coordination among political leaders, grassroots actors and other stakeholders ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

At the inaugural meeting of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement in Abuja on Friday, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, was identified as Grand Patron, while the movement’s national coordinator, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, outlined plans to take mobilisation beyond Abuja and into communities across the region.

Alaka’s emergence as a North Central campaign patron therefore comes against the backdrop of renewed political mobilisation in the region as the APC begins preparations for the 2027 elections.
