The All Progressive Congress (APC) Oyo North senatorial candidate, Sen. Fatai Buhari, has assured the indigenes of Oke-ogun of his commitment to educational development through adequate representation in the National Assembly and his unending strive to make the first federal university a reality in the zone.
He made this assurance during a debate organized by Ore TV in partnership with Korrectnews and other media organizations in the zone.
Senator Buhari said, “Bringing the university to the zone is my utmost priority and lifelong ambition. I understand how our people are in dire need of the educational institute, and I will do anything possible to make it a success.”
Reacting to a question posed by the audience on the authenticity of the university and how achievable it is, senator Buhari explained further the steps being taken for the university.
Out of the seven processes involved in passing the bill, six have been successful, and we are now hoping for the presidential assent, which will be done by the special grace of God. “It has gone through first reading, second reading, public hearing, third reading, revert to the House of Representatives for passage, and through the committee level of assessment, and is now waiting for presidential assent.” Said Buhari.
He added that the agricultural potential of Oke-Ogun and the technological development of the world are the reasons for crafting a niche for the institution.
“We have been doing a lot in ICT by facilitating digital hubs in the zone for our sons and daughters to be technologically inclined, and this has made us push more for the university so we can annex our potential in ICT and agriculture.”
Fatai Buhari urged the people of Oyo North not to be deceived by amateur politicians who are campaigning on nepotism and ethnicity grounds to disrupt the adequate representation being enjoyed in the zone.
