Some concerned members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo Federal Constituency have dismissed as misleading and unfounded reports circulating on social media and some online news platforms alleging irregularities in the emergence of the party’s House of Representatives candidate, Rt. Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, for the 2027 general election.
The stakeholders were reacting to a publication in which an aspirant, Hon. Ismail Adewoyin, alleged that the APC House of Representatives primary election was not conducted and questioned the process that produced Hon. Kareem Tajudeen as the party’s candidate.
Addressing journalists in Saki on Friday, the concerned party members maintained that the publication represented the personal opinion of the aggrieved aspirant and should not be interpreted as the collective position of the APC family in the federal constituency.
According to them, the leadership and majority of party faithful across Saki West, Saki East and Atisbo remain united behind the party’s decisions and are committed to ensuring victory for the APC in the forthcoming general elections.
The stakeholders stressed that political contests naturally produce differing opinions and interests, but cautioned against narratives capable of creating unnecessary tension or portraying the party as being divided when internal mechanisms for conflict resolution remain available.
They further argued that the reports suggesting that the party had improperly arrived at its candidate were capable of misleading the public and supporters, insisting that the APC remains a law-abiding political party guided by its constitution, internal regulations and established democratic procedures.
While acknowledging the constitutional right of every aspirant to seek redress through legitimate party channels, the stakeholders urged members to avoid media campaigns capable of damaging the image of the APC or weakening its electoral chances ahead of 2027.
“The APC has laid down procedures for addressing grievances. Resorting to the media before exhausting the party’s internal mechanisms does not strengthen the party but rather gives room for unnecessary speculation,” one of the stakeholders stated.
They also dismissed claims that the emergence of Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun was the product of any hijacked process, insisting that no individual possesses the authority to unilaterally determine the party’s candidate outside the constitutional framework of the APC.
According to them, the leadership of the party at various levels remains competent to address any complaints arising from the nomination process, expressing confidence that all outstanding issues would be resolved in accordance with the party’s rules.
The concerned APC members therefore called on supporters across the three local government areas to remain calm, united and focused on the larger objective of retaining the Saki West/Saki East/Atisbo Federal Constituency for the APC in the 2027 general election.
They reaffirmed their unwavering support for Rt. Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun and appealed to all aspirants, party leaders and loyalists to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambition, emphasizing that unity, discipline and respect for party supremacy remain essential to the APC’s continued success.
