The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its Direct Primary election for the Apapa Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, with Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau emerging as the party’s flag bearer after securing a decisive victory across the constituency.
The primary election, held on May 20, 2026, witnessed a significant turnout of accredited party members across the five wards that make up the constituency.
According to the official ward-by-ward collation conducted by accredited APC electoral officials, Ward F recorded 1,345 votes, while Ward G returned 1,312 votes amid reports of challenges and attempts to discourage voter participation.
Ward H, regarded by party members as a stronghold of Hon. Lawal, produced the highest figure with 3,091 votes. Ward I and Ward J returned 997 and 953 votes respectively.
At the end of the exercise, Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau polled a total of 7,698 votes, defeating all other aspirants who secured a combined 3,457 votes.
Party officials described the process as competitive and reflective of grassroots participation, noting that the outcome demonstrated the preference of party members across the constituency.
The victory marks a continuation of Hon. Lawal’s political dominance within the constituency. Political observers recall that during the 2023 APC primary, Lawal defeated Hon. Olumuyiwa to secure the party’s ticket for his first term in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The 2026 outcome again saw Hon. Lawal prevail over the former Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, reinforcing what supporters describe as sustained confidence in his leadership and representation.
Supporters of the lawmaker attributed the victory to his constituency projects, political outreach and perceived commitment to community development across Apapa-Iganmu.
Following the conclusion of the collation process, APC electoral officials formally confirmed Hon. Lawal Aina Musibau as the party’s candidate for Apapa Constituency II ahead of the forthcoming state assembly election.
The outcome, party members say, represents a mandate delivered through votes cast across all wards and ratified through the party’s official electoral process.
