The Baale of Palapala, Alhaji Tiamiyu Olowookere Oloba, has commiserated with the family of Pa Alhaji Raheem Durojaye over the death of the respected elder, describing his passing as a significant loss to the Saki community.
In a message to the bereaved family through Sulaiman Olowookere Oloba, Alhaji Tiamiyu acknowledged the late Durojaye’s longstanding place in the community and the respect he commanded among people who encountered him throughout his lifetime.
The traditional leader noted that the passing of an elder of such standing creates a void that extends beyond the immediate family, particularly because elders serve as custodians of experience, wisdom and communal values.
He urged members of the Durojaye family to draw strength from the life their patriarch lived and the relationships he cultivated, while encouraging them to remain united during the period of mourning.
Alhaji Olowookere Oloba also used the occasion to underscore the importance of preserving the values associated with responsible elderhood, including peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, wisdom and commitment to the wellbeing of the community.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give the Durojaye family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The Baale further called on friends, associates and members of the wider community to support the bereaved family and ensure that the values and positive memories associated with the late elder continue to endure.
The death of Pa Alhaji Raheem Durojaye has consequently prompted expressions of sympathy from members of the community, with traditional and political figures recognising the loss of an elder whose years of experience and relationships formed part of the social fabric of Saki.
For Alhaji Tiamiyu Olowookere Oloba, the occasion is also a reminder of the enduring responsibility of communities to honour their elders in life and preserve their legacies after death.
