A major political development has emerged in following the resignation of the Majority Leader of the Legislative Council, Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo, from the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a formal resignation letter dated May 1, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party in Ward 04 through the Ward Secretary, Kabeer officially announced his withdrawal from the PDP with immediate effect, describing the decision as one reached after “careful personal reflection and wide consultation” with political associates and stakeholders.
The resignation, which is already generating discussions within the political landscape of Saki West and the wider Oke-Ogun region, marks a significant shift in the local political structure, considering Adebayo’s influential position within the legislative arm of the council and his longstanding affiliation with the party.
In the letter, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities afforded him during his years of membership, noting that the platform enabled him to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ward 04 and the entire Saki West Local Government Area.
“I am grateful for the platform and opportunities that the party has provided me over the years to serve my people and contribute to the development of Ward 04 and Saki West Local Government area,” the letter partly read.
Although the Majority Leader did not explicitly state the reasons behind his departure nor disclose his next political destination, political observers believe the move may not be unconnected with the ongoing realignments and strategic calculations ahead of future political contests within .
