IESA-KWASU congratulates Prof. Ibrahim Laro Abubakar, Chairman of IESA-KWASU and Dean of Faculty of Education, for reaching yet another historic milestone. On Thursday 21st of May, 2026, Prof. Laro Abubakar was elected National Chairman of the Committee of Deans of Education in Nigerian Universities (CODENU). The IESA-KWASU views the election as well deserved and calculated from the perspective of educational advancement in Nigeria.
Professor Laro Abubakar, a well-known authority in the field of exercise science and sports psychology, is a tested and trusted educational technocrat owing to multiple roles he plays in the educational sector.
Prof. Laro has served with distinction as Head of Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, Director of the Institute of Education, Chairman of Summer Rerun programme, Chairman of the Sports Committee, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, and later Dean Students Affairs, and is presently serving as the second term Dean of the Faculty of Education in KWASU.
Prof. Laro Abubakar was recently honoured with Distinguished Academic Leadership Award by Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom in partnership with Southwest Nigeria Excellence Awards. Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom is the organizer of the Africa Education Summit, the largest annual assembly of thought leaders and education intellectuals on the continent.
Professor Laro Abubakar is also a member of the International Society for Sports Psychology and Nigeria Association of Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance among several others.
Therefore, his election as National Chairman of CODENU recognises him as a value-multiplier, based on his previous and present traits of outstanding leadership, scholarly excellence, and notable contributions to academia and community development. There is no doubt that under his direction, CODENU will reach new heights. As a matter of fact, under his chairmanship, the association’s capital combining intellectual, social, and strategic assets will grow exponentially.
