The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU) has approved the promotion of 45 academic staff to the professorial cadre, with nine members of the Ilorin Emirate community among those elevated. The decision was ratified at the institution’s 78th Regular Council Meeting held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
A statement released by the General Secretary of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association KWASU, Abdullahi A. Bakare, said 20 of the promoted staff attained the rank of full professor, while 25 were elevated to associate professor. Of the Emirate staff, four became full professors and five were promoted to associate professors.
Those elevated to full professorship include Sikiru Ottan Abdulrahman and Lambe Mutalub Adesina from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, as well as Jimoh Ajadi and Lukman Bola Abdulrauf from the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.
Similarly, the new associate professors include Ismaila Yusuf, Musa Ilias Biala, and Lukman Adebayo-Oke Abdulrauf from the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, alongside Raliat Abimbola Aladodo and Risqot Ibrahim-Garba from the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.
The statement noted that the Ilorin Emirate academic community received the development with pride, describing the promotions as a testament to the beneficiaries’ scholarly excellence, research productivity, and commitment to academic mentorship. It added that the elevation reflects years of dedication, peer-reviewed publications, and contributions to knowledge.
While congratulating the newly promoted scholars, the association urged them to embrace the higher responsibilities that come with their new status, emphasizing the need for continued excellence in teaching, research, and service to humanity.
