Iwalewa Football Academy have been crowned champions of the 2026 Ibadan Football Council League, earning plaudits from Allied Peoples Movement (APM) House of Representatives candidate for Atisbo, Saki East and Saki West Federal Constituency, Hon. Niyi Adebisi, who described the victory as a major boost for grassroots football.
Adebisi congratulated the players, coaching crew and management of the academy, saying their championship success reflects the discipline, determination, teamwork and competitive spirit required to excel in football.
The APM candidate praised the young champions for maintaining their focus throughout the league campaign and urged them to build on the success as they set their sights on higher levels of competition. He noted that achievements of this nature could open new opportunities for the players and place them on the radar of clubs and football development programmes.
He also commended the academy’s technical team and administrators for investing in youth development, stressing that sustained grassroots programmes remain essential to discovering and nurturing the next generation of football stars.
Adebisi called for stronger support for grassroots football, particularly through improved sporting facilities, youth competitions and structured talent-development programmes. He said Iwalewa’s success demonstrates the quality of talent that can emerge when young players receive proper coaching and competitive exposure.
While celebrating the achievement, Adebisi urged the players to remain disciplined and committed to continuous improvement, stressing that winning the Ibadan Football Council League should be viewed as a launching pad for bigger ambitions.
He extended his congratulations to the entire Iwalewa Football Academy family and expressed confidence that the newly crowned champions would continue to make an impact in future competitions.
