Hon. Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo, the Action Peoples Party (APM) candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, Saki West Constituency, has expressed profound relief and joy over the safe rescue of prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, including a native of Saki, who were abducted while traveling to their orientation camp.
The prospective corps members were traveling from Ibadan to their orientation camps when armed assailants ambushed their convoy along the Owerri–Onitsha highway in Imo State, abducting several youth into captivity. The incident sparked widespread panic and appeals from affected families, prompting Hon. Adebayo to personally visit the Saki indigene’s family in solidarity and issue an urgent public appeal calling on security agencies to act swiftly.

Reacting to the news of their successful rescue by security operatives, Adebayo praised the Almighty for preserving the lives of the young graduates and lauded the joint efforts of security agencies, the Federal Government, and the Oyo State Government in bringing the agonizing ordeal to an end.
“This is an immense victory of hope over fear,” Adebayo stated. “When I sat with our son’s family in Saki during those dark hours of uncertainty, the pain and tension were palpable. To receive the confirmation today that they have been safely freed and reunited with authorities brings immense relief not just to their immediate households, but to the entire Saki community and Oyo State at large.”
The grassroots leader commended the security personnel who participated in the tactical rescue operation, as well as the families for their resilience and faith throughout the traumatic period.
Adebayo, however, emphasized the need for relevant authorities to strengthen transit security architectures along interstate transit corridors, particularly for corps members responding to national service across distant parts of the country.
“Our young men and women answered the noble call to serve Nigeria,” he added. “While we celebrate their safe return, government institutions and the NYSC directorate must continue to review security logistics and travel protocols so that our youth are never again placed at the mercy of criminals while honoring the national flag.”
Adebayo assured that he remains in touch with the affected Saki family as they prepare to welcome their son back home, wishing all the rescued victims swift physical and psychological recovery.
