The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, is set to formally unveil his development manifesto, tagged Oyo AHEAD (Itayo Oyo), to stakeholders across the state as part of efforts to present his vision and policy direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The manifesto presentation, scheduled for Tuesday at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite the main gate of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, is expected to attract a broad representation of political, economic, professional, labour, community and social groups from different parts of the state.

The event will mark the official presentation of Senator Alli’s proposed development blueprint for Oyo State, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the policy priorities, strategic direction and sector-specific interventions he intends to pursue if elected governor.

According to a press statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation (SSACO), Mr Bisi Oladele, the unveiling is designed to bring together critical stakeholders whose contributions and participation are considered essential to the development of the state.

Among those expected at the event are representatives of the organised private sector, labour unions, community development associations, farmers’ groups, students, artisans, members of the academic community, traders, women organisations and non-indigenes residing in Oyo State.

The gathering is also expected to feature APC leaders and candidates contesting various elective positions in the 2027 general elections, reflecting the party’s broader political mobilisation and engagement with stakeholders across the state.

Senator Alli is expected to present the manifesto sector by sector, outlining his proposed policies, programmes and development interventions across key areas of governance.

The sectoral presentation is expected to provide stakeholders with a clearer understanding of the priorities underpinning the Oyo AHEAD agenda, as well as the proposed approaches to addressing the state’s development challenges.

The campaign organisation described Oyo AHEAD as a practical and people-centred roadmap aimed at repositioning Oyo State and improving its performance across critical development indicators.

According to the statement, the vision behind the manifesto is to move the state ahead in development metrics, strengthen its institutional and socioeconomic foundations, and restore its historic reputation as a pace-setting state.

The choice of the acronym Oyo AHEAD, alongside its Yoruba expression, Itayo Oyo, is intended to communicate a forward-looking development philosophy anchored on progress, inclusion and measurable outcomes.

The planned engagement with representatives of different sectors also signals an attempt to place stakeholder participation at the centre of the manifesto presentation, allowing groups with distinct economic and social interests to engage with the candidate’s proposed development direction.

For a state with diverse socioeconomic needs, the success of any development blueprint will depend not only on the promises contained in its policy document but also on the practicality of its implementation, the availability of resources, institutional capacity and accountability mechanisms.

Consequently, Tuesday’s presentation is expected to serve as an important platform for Senator Alli to communicate his vision, explain his policy choices and demonstrate how the proposed agenda would translate into tangible benefits for residents across Oyo State.
