IESA-KWASU Applauds Governing Council Member on Daughter’s Aviation Milestone

Must read

The Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, Kwara State University (IESA-KWASU), Professor Ibrahim Laro Abubakar celebrates Engr. Nurudeen Bolaji Idrees for his daughter, Miss Teslimat Abiola Nurudeen, on achieving a record-breaking solo flight as a final-year student of the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering of Kwara State University, Malete.

Teslimat made history by becoming the first undergraduate from the institution to complete a solo flight at the Ilorin International Airport on April 20, 2026. The young aviator in embryo successfully piloted an aircraft alone in a 24-minute circuit flight around the airport after months of rigorous training that included ground school, simulator sessions, and supervised flights.

In aviation training, a solo flight is regarded as a crucial milestone, indicating that a student pilot can demonstrate the ability, confidence, and safety awareness to operate an aircraft independently.

It is heartening that Teslimat dedicated the record to his father, whom she branded as the primary figure in her success story. Such a moment validates how others perceive her father, Eng. Idrees, in terms of his established and respected professional standing. Her testimony did not build a new reputation for him, it revealed the private goodness to the public who had always accepted and respected him.

Ilorin Emirate Staff Association, KWASU (IESA-KWASU) identifies with and celebrates one of its distinguished youth leaders and a humble man for receiving a spotlight he never sought for but absolutely deserves.

To the gentle father, the unseen hand behind the rising star, may your discreet and open kindness continue to come back to you a hundredfold, in more ways you never would have imagined. To the exceptional daughter, the record-breaker, the testimony-giver and the pride of the Emirate, may you continue to conquer as you run and leap into the future.
