The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has declared that only President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be allowed to campaign in Osun State ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The monarch specifically barred other presidential contenders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, from campaigning in the state.
Oba Akanbi made the declaration in a post on his Facebook page, accompanied by a video of his remarks at the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road.
He commended President Tinubu for what he described as his “unprecedented achievements,” particularly the approval of the rehabilitation of the major road corridor.
According to the monarch, the project would alleviate the hardship experienced by residents while enhancing trade, transportation, and connectivity among Osun, Oyo and Ogun states.
“No presidential candidate should come to Osun State for presidential campaign except Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Oba Akanbi declared.
The Oluwo also praised the President’s development initiatives, urging political leaders to support the administration rather than engage in what he described as premature politicking ahead of the 2027 elections.
He further appealed to residents of Iwo and other communities along the road corridor to cooperate with contractors to facilitate the timely and successful completion of the project.
