Hon. Kareem Tajudeen Abisodun, Member representing Atisbo, Saki East and Saki West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has congratulated Iwalewa Football Academy on emerging champions of the 2026 Ibadan Football Council League.
Abisodun, in his congratulatory message, described the team’s achievement as a remarkable demonstration of talent, discipline, determination and collective commitment, noting that the victory represents not only a significant milestone for Iwalewa Football Academy but also an encouraging development for grassroots football in Oyo State.
The federal lawmaker commended the players, coaches, management and supporters of the academy for their dedication throughout the competition. He stressed that achievements of this nature underscore the enormous sporting potential among young Nigerians and the need for sustained investment in grassroots sports development.
Abisodun further noted that football remains an important platform for youth development, character building, employment creation and social integration. He therefore encouraged Iwalewa Football Academy to remain focused and disciplined, urging the players to see the league triumph as a foundation for greater accomplishments at state, national and international levels.
The lawmaker also called on governments, private organisations, football administrators and other stakeholders to intensify support for grassroots football by providing young talents with quality training facilities, mentorship, competitions and opportunities to develop their careers.
He congratulated the entire Iwalewa Football Academy family once again, expressing confidence that the team’s success would inspire more young people across Oyo State, particularly those in the Oke-Ogun region, to embrace sports as a viable avenue for personal development and positive contribution to society.
The 2026 Ibadan Football Council League triumph has consequently been hailed as a significant achievement for Iwalewa Football Academy and another indication of the growing pool of football talent emerging from grassroots competitions in Oyo State.
