EKITI 2022: EX-GOVERNOR SEGUN ONI QUITS PDP

Must read

The build up to June 18 gubernatorial election in Ekiti, today assumed another dimension as former Governor Segun Oni announced his withdrawal from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Oni, who is aspiring to govern the state for a second time, is apparently displeased with the outcome of the recent PDP governorship primary which left him in second place behind the flag bearer of the party, Mr. Bisi Kolawole.

Spokesperson for Segun Oni Movement, Adebayo Jackson, confirmed the development to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, saying his resignation is with immediate effect.

Mr Jackson said the decision by Mr Oni and his entire political structure to leave PDP, was taken at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Mr Oni’s residence in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the State, earlier in the day.

The former governor is, however, yet to clarify his next party of choice, though fingers are pointing at the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
