Lagos Police Chief Vows Justice for LASU Student Killed in Crash

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, has inspected the site of a tragic road accident that killed a Lagos State University student, pledging that justice will prevail.

Azeezat Abdul-Rasheed, a 300-level student in the Department of Guidance and Counselling at Lagos State University (LASU), was crushed by a vehicle at about 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Igando area of the state.

Following the development, some of her colleagues including some students of the university stormed the Area M Police Division at Idimu  demanding for justice.
In a video shared on X by a student of LASU, @Khennybass, they alleged that officers were shielding the driver involved in the incident by attempting to cover up the situation.

 The command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement, said the Commissioner applauded the students for their orderly and responsible conduct, in spite of the grief over the loss of their colleague.

 “He promised the suspect in the incident would be properly charged to court  for prosecution,” she said.
The spokesperson, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the safety of all residents.

She further expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
